Ali Atabey

I am an AEC Subject Matter Expert at Autodesk. My job is to make sure our mid-market customers realize the business value of our solutions.

Before joining Autodesk I worked as an Architectural Designer and BIM Leader for over five years. As a designer, I have worked on mixed-use developments, planned unit developments, high-rise residential developments, healthcare and higher-ed projects. Overall, I have contributed to the delivery of over a million square feet of space.

I am very interested in exploring the intersection between fabrication and generative design. I believe that, use of digital tools make us more efficient, tackle difficult problems easier, and provide a level of collaboration that was not previously available. At Autodesk, I explore this passion everyday. I find alternative workflows to common problems in delivery of architecture, I explore and extract relevant data that help teams see the future of their work more clearly and hopefully help them make better decisions and I teach teams how to use Autodesk products better so that they work more efficiently with less downtime.

I graduated University of Florida (Go Gators!) for my Bachelor of Design and Master of Architecture degrees. During my graduate studies I worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. As part of my job, I held a class of twenty five underground students. My objective was to teach them the ability to understand and work with generative design processes, recognize, appropriate, and deploy major parametric design paradigms and logics on a variety of scales. During the semester, I demonstrated to students how to build, manage, and represent highly complex models. I helped them establish the basic guidelines and workflows for various digital fabrication techniques.
