Howdy! As Technical Assistant to the head of our manufacturing, construction, and production products group, I support our SVP and his staff in a couple of different ways.
(1) Explore Autodesk's offerings from an external user perspective, independently mapping the use of Autodesk tools to specific workflows in architecture, engineering, construction (AEC) and manufacturing industries.
(2) Work closely with product teams and high-profile customers to create stories around new technologies and workflows, developing technical content for use in internal and external presentations, customer meetings, articles, and media events.
(3) Perform ad-hoc external technology research and validation at the direction of the SVP and/or key members of his staff
About two years ago, after finishing up a summer internship and my last quarter at UCLA, I joined the product team here at Autodesk, taking on a melange of research into new technologies (e.g., hybrid manufacturing, AR/VR, robotics, AI, etc.), work with customers, and technical marketing. Much of that involves talking to many folks inside / outside the company, funneling up some of the coolest customer stories we find, and understanding how those customers use and push our products day in and day out, from high-level to the minute technical details.
Before landing at Autodesk (pun intended), I studied aerospace engineering at UCLA and honed my more hands-on technical skills through a variety of summer internship stints, ranging from analyzing the insertion force of femoral implants, to designing and constructing a functional model cooling tower within the confines of an oil refinery, to working on bionic structures and multi-objective optimization with Airbus innovators in the land of bratwurst and lederhosen.
I'm pretty adaptable to communicating and helping out with various disciplines and technologies, but am especially passionate about working with emerging technology in developing markets. Although more comfortable consulting on new technologies or workflows, I can also assist with specific design, simulation, or manufacturing recommendations.
And if I can't answer your question for whatever reason, I can definitely put you in contact with someone who might have more expertise. Looking forward to working with y'all!
