My passion lies in helping people figure out what they want, and helping them find the courage to seek out the resources they need to reach their goals (or maybe something unexpectedly better in the process!).
My background is in music. Through a lifetime of studying classical music, I learned how to escape my fears - of performing in front of large crowds, of trying to meet seemingly impossible expectations, of networking in order to get my music in front of an audience (as well as gaining the audience to watch the performances - it's challenging, though not impossible, to get people to pay to watch a mid-level trombone ensemble perform experimental modern chamber music).
When I got into university, I initially went for a more practical Computer Science degree in an attempt to increase my ROI, but ultimately went back to studying music because I needed to continue with what I was passionate about. It wasn't the obvious path for making a living wage after school, sure, but many of these skills ended up being widely transferable once I opened my mind to the possibility of creative alternatives. My career at Autodesk is proof of this.
I have a belief that anyone can find personal fulfillment and success in their field if they can find the confidence to get creative with what they already possess. The key is to summon the willingness to take a risks and accept failure as part of the process.
