Civil engineer by training who helps customers hone their strategic approach to digitalization and guide firms through organizational change. Love LUMA & Mural!

MORE

Karsten is a civil engineer by training who specializes in BIM and sustainability. He has a strong academic and industry background in civil engineering, having published a doctoral thesis on concrete technology and working for several years at engineering firms in the US and Germany with a focus on green building, energy modelling, and sustainability.

In 2013, Karsten joined Autodesk consulting where he has served as a business consultant focused on helping customers hone their strategic approach to BIM, orchestrating BIM implementation, and guiding firms through organizational change. Today, in addition to his role as a business consultant, Karsten leads the business consulting team in EMEA.

During the course of his PhD program at Columbia University, he co-taught a studio for architects and engineers, the first interdisciplinary course of its kind at the institution. Despite going on to complete a post-doctoral program in integrated waste management, he eschewed a purely academic career and for the past 15 years has applied his training to real-world projects. With Autodesk customers, Karsten applies his academic and industry backgrounds to understand and solve technically and organizationally complex customer problems.

In my day-today work, I focus on the human side of change, using LUMA methodologies and Mural as the platform for remote facilitation.
