I have over 20 years of experience in film and television production prior to my time at Autodesk. In my work in technical sales, I have also collaborated with product teams on design, service design, and user experience research. I love travel and meeting people from different cultures all over the world. I have lived in New York City, Dublin, Santa Rosa, Los Angeles and Reykjavik. I am currently based out of Detroit, Michigan.
Eli Rarey has spent over twenty years at the intersection of storytelling and technology. As a filmmaker, he has written and directed award-winning films shown all over the world, including fiction, documentary, and interactive cinematic experiences. As a performer, he has brought to life folktales, literary stories, and personal stories. As a professional in the film industry, he has worked on blockbuster franchises such as Harry Potter, Die Hard, and Fast and Furious—as well as doing pioneering work in broadcast graphics and virtual set technology early in his career.
His feature film, The Famous Joe Project, premiered at Outfest in 2012. His short films have appeared in festivals and won awards all over the world. The short documentary project Two Faiths One Prayer has been viewed over 300,000 times on YouTube. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Columbia University in Theater Arts and an MFA degree from USC School of Cinematic Arts, where he later taught in the Interactive Media Division. He studied storytelling as an art form with master storyteller Diane Wolkstein and was a founding member of the experimental theater company Science Project with performance research pioneer Yelena Gluzman.
